Comments are one of the best indication of reader interaction. Ever since I started blogging, I always get the same feeling of excitement every time I receive a comment from my readers. Who doesn’t love them? (Unless it’s spam).
Who could say no to an engaged and interactive audience reading your blog? If you’re not getting many comments yet, consider these simple tips.
First of all, make your blog easy to access. Avoid making your readers need to click several times just to get to your posts. Make them feel your site is easy to get to. Structure your navigation as friendly as possible and direct them to your content.
Don’t force your readers to sign into Google, Typepad, or any other accounts alike. Remember that not all visitors have these accounts. Keep in mind that you are asking a favor from them to respond so don’t stress them with these requirements.
Avoid word verification. I personally discourage this as I don’t use it in my site. Some word verification applications simply sucks. Spam sucks as well, but I’m betting that sites who use word verification don’t receive that much spam. Install Akismet plugins instead.
Don’t over decorate your comments form. Keep it simple yet enticing to type.
Lastly, if you want comments, ensure that your readers have something to respond to. Make sure your content is understandable and your main idea is clearly stated. Keep your readers in mind so prepare a quality content for them. Insert interactive words for them to suggest or ask a question at the end of your post.
