Don’t get confused with wordpress.org and wordpress.com. To start with this post, let me just distinguish simple differences between the two.

Simply put this, wordpress.org is a site dedicated to the development and the spreading of a web software, guess it – WordPress. Here you can download the software for free or find documentation of the code if your interested in the development of the platform.

On the other hand, wordpress.com offers free hosting of a blog site with a one click install of a software called, you guess it – WordPress.

So which one should I choose? It depends.

If you go for free, they will require your site to be a sub-domained. Meaning, if you choose to have a site name “Jame’s Travel Diary”, it shall look like jamestraveldiary.wordpress.com once set up. You don’t need to think about server space payment. All you contents will be hosted in their system.

While on paid hosting, you will need to download the software and install it directly on your host server. Of course, the freedom to customize your site comes with a price depending on your web host.
